Thursday night stabbing under investigation

HOLYOKE – Holyoke Police officers responded to 375 Main Street last night at 8:50 p.m. for the report of a stabbing.
According to Lt. Matthew Mortiarty of the Holyoke Police Criminal Investigation Bureau, officers found a 58-year-old man suffering from stab wounds to his stomach. The victim was conscious and alert.
A statement released by Holyoke Police said the victim said he was stabbed on Appleton Street near Race Street. Detectives from the police department went to that area and located a blood trail on Appleton Street between the canals.
The man was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he is reported to be in stable condition.
